Windows 10 Maps for Phone, PC and other windows devices

Windows 10 Maps for Phones, PC and tablet group manager Aaron Butcher developed this for all windows devices. After launching of windows 10 technical preview in January, Insiders tried this new maps apps for pc. But now maps are also available for windows 10 phones with latest build of windows 10 preview (build 10051). If you are in windows phone development, give it a try and share your views with Microsoft team to make it better.

As Microsoft has now developed a universal app platform for all of their windows devices, so maps can also be used on all devices. Maps offers you the features and tools you need to search and navigate the world on the go. Windows 10 Maps features includes the best maps, aerial imagery, rich local search data, and voice guided navigation experiences from both Bing maps and Here maps.

Use Maps with touch: 

Our maps are easy to use with a mouse and keyboard on a PC, and even better to control the use of natural touch gestures on phones or other touch screen devices. Pinch to zoom, use two fingers to rotate and tap a label to release detailed information about the company or brand. You can also scroll with two fingers to tilt the map to a different perspective. Click the button Show my location to expand your current location, or the button to turn Bing Map view aerial images or data traffic in real time.

Find the places you want to search for:

Windows 10 Maps for phones allows you to do Local search via bing maps. Click on the search box and you will see list of popular categories in your area. Once you tap on any category, it will show you coffee shops, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls etc….

Type the name of a place that resembles the “Space Needle” and see a large data set that is consistent with our experience Windows Search 10 Technical Preview and Research on Bing web. With the location and details of history, you will see the latest photos and reviews. You can even make a reservation for a restaurant directly from the application.

Navigate the World with Windows 10 Maps for Phone

When you’re on the go – let’s say you are staying at a hotel in a strange city – you can easily find nearby places to eat, drink, and shop or even suggested attractions and activities directly from the details of the card of your hotel.

Directions and Guided Navigation:

Once you have found the place you’re looking cards will be the best application to help you! Whether you’re driving, public transport or walking, the application gives you detailed step by step instructions to help you navigate with confidence.

Automatically finds the best route for you, based on current traffic conditions and also give you the ability to adjust the route to your preferences. For example, I like avoiding toll.

If you’re using a GPS device, you also receive the route with voice guidance. This rich experience of hands-free navigation based navigation features from Here maps, including the popular speed limit warnings and modes of day and night to help reach your destination safely as possible.

Access Maps anywhere, anytime, any device:

In Windows 10, you can always count on their maps available offline by storing maps on the PC and the phone. From Maps Settings, select Download a map and collect the parts of the world you want to store offline. Once downloaded, the maps, the results of local search and navigation, including voice guidance work without an Internet connection without using your data plan.

We are also making it very easy to get your content from one device to another. Access any Windows device with your Microsoft account, and your home and work locations, the route preferences and recent research automatically roam with you. Simply mark a location as a favorite and will always be there in the list of favorites on all windows 10 devices. Find a favorite restaurant on your PC, and the results of the research will be there on your Windows phone when you are ready to go.
